Michael Jordan Is Mocked By Wifi At Utah Jazz Arena

The Utah Jazz are yet to move on from their NBA Finals experience in 1998. One of the most memorable baskets in NBA history to this day is without a doubt Michael Jordan’s legendary jumper to win the 1998 NBA Finals.

The shot not only secured the Bulls’ second NBA title together, but it also signalled the team’s success in winning three straight titles. The Utah Jazz, of course, view the matter differently.

Ryan Smith, the owner of the Jazz, spoke on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Wednesday afternoon. He discussed how he was a lifelong Utah fan growing up and how vividly he remembered the 1998 season when Michael Jordan and the Bulls travelled to Salt Lake City and won the NBA title for the third time in a row.

Naturally, the highlight of that series is the shot that Jordan made against Bryon Russell in Game 6, which will go down in NBA history as one of the most legendary. With five seconds remaining, Jazz supporters think that Jordan pushed off on what would have been the game-winning basket.

Astute fans noted that the Vivint Arena Wi-Fi network is named after the moment when the 2023–24 NBA season got begun. Considering that the Jazz organization and its supporters are still aware of the shot, the Wi-Fi moniker is a playful jab at Jordan.

Many people were eager to comment after the screenshot of the Vivint Arena Wi-Fi network went viral. Others quickly stepped out to defend the Utah Jazz organization, concurring that Jordan did, in fact, push off, while some protected the moniker. See some of the more amusing responses below!

Smith clearly belongs to that group as well, based on the WiFi name that was shown inside the Jazz Arena today.

“There was a lot of discussion happening between Michael Jordan and the Jazz fans that year I remember,” Smith told McAfee. “Whether it was the pizza, getting sick, going to Vegas, whatever it was. The building’s WiFi is “Jordan pushed off.”

The official Jazz X account attested to the fact that JordanPushedOff is the WiFi name.

Even though Jordan made the shot over Russell 25 years ago, Jazz supporters’ anguish still seems very palpable, reaching as far as the team’s primary owner.
